Recruiter
Position Overview
The Recruiter will manage the full-cycle recruitment process to attract, engage, and hire high-quality talent in support of the organization's mission and strategic goals. This role partners closely with hiring managers and the HR team to deliver an efficient, equitable, and positive hiring experience while ensuring compliance with employment laws, organizational policies, and applicant tracking requirements.
Talent Acquisition
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for exempt, non-exempt, union, and non-union positions from requisition approval through onboarding.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, develop recruitment strategies, establish realistic hiring timelines, and identify required qualifications.
- Source qualified candidates using a variety of recruitment channels, including job boards, professional networks, social media, employee referrals, community organizations, universities, and industry associations.
- Screen resumes, conduct phone screenings, coordinate interviews, facilitate interview scheduling, and support hiring managers throughout the selection process.
- Prepare offer letters, coordinate reference and background checks, manage pre-employment requirements, and ensure timely completion of the hiring process.
- Maintain accurate applicant records and recruitment documentation within the HRIS/Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ensuring compliance with EEO, OFCCP (as applicable), and organizational recordkeeping requirements.
- Train and support hiring managers on recruiting processes, interview best practices, and effective use of the HRIS/ATS.
- Career onboarding activities with HR, IT, Facilities/Security, Payroll, and hiring managers to ensure a seamless new hire experience.
Candidate Experience
- Deliver an exceptional candidate experience through proactive communication, professionalism, and timely follow-up throughout the recruitment process.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates, responding promptly to inquiries and providing regular status updates.
- Build and maintain talent pipelines for current and future hiring needs.
Employer Branding & Outreach
- Promote the organization's mission, culture, values, and employee value proposition through recruitment marketing and candidate interactions.
- Develop relationships with universities, professional organizations, community partners, and workforce development organizations to expand diverse talent pipelines.
- Identify, coordinate, and represent the organization at career fairs, networking events, conferences, and recruitment initiatives.
- Support internship and fellowship recruitment programs and related hiring activities.
Recruitment Operations & Process Improvement
- Evaluate and continuously improve recruiting processes to increase efficiency, enhance the candidate experience, and reduce time to fill.
- Recommend and implement best practices for sourcing, interviewing, selection, and onboarding.
- Support the development of recruitment tools, interview guides, hiring resources, and process documentation.
Reporting & Compliance
- Track and analyze key recruiting metrics, including time to fill, source effectiveness, candidate pipeline activity, and other hiring trends.
- Prepare recruitment reports and provide hiring data as needed for workforce planning and compliance reporting.
- Ensure recruiting activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, internal policies, and collective bargaining agreements where applicable.
HR Support
- Aid in maintaining employee records and HR documentation.
- Support HR initiatives and special projects as assigned.
- Provide administrative support related to onboarding, employee data management, and other HR functions.
LOCATION
WETA and NewsHour Productions are Washington, DC established media and news organizations. We are a largely local workforce based out of the Campbell Place office in Arlington, VA. WETA and NewsHour Productions value employee flexibility when possible. Most positions based in our Arlington, VA office will be onsite or hybrid, depending upon the role.
