Job Summary

We are seeking a Recreational Therapist/RBT to join our team in Platte Woods. This role combines play-based learning and socialization to inspire feelings of belonging and inclusion for autistic children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Administer recreation based interventions such as sports, games, dance, drama, arts, and crafts to improve physical, cognitive, and emotional functioning.
  • Collaborate with community agencies to enrich client and family learning and community integration.
  • Plan and facilitate community and parent activities.
  • Design activities supporting all aspects of a client's therapy plan, integrating with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Organize age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities to ensure client participation in learning activities.
  • Manage client behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning and play environment.
  • Implement ABA treatment programs as written by the Clinical Supervisor.
  • Collect data to monitor the progress and effectiveness of the individualized treatment plan using data collection software.
  • Provide hands-on, direct care while following the principles of ABA.
  • Work collaboratively with intradisciplinary team including, OT, Speech, and Physical Therapists.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures, including confidentiality and mandated reporting standards.
  • Maintain appropriate social distancing, safety, and enhanced protective hygiene practices.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients, families, and colleagues.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and workshops to acquire further knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Psychology, Special Education, or related field.
  • Experience in play-based therapy and working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis using data collection software.
