Recreational Therapist Per Diem
About the role
The Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Corporation, a division of Mass General Brigham, seeks a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to provide services to patients with impairments, functional limitations, or disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate recreational and leisure needs according to organizational and professional guidelines.
- Develop realistic, expected outcomes based on patient goals and input from patient, family, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Revise treatment plans based on patient progress and home constraints.
- Document therapy and healthcare student performance in accordance with facility and practice guidelines.
- Mentor therapy and healthcare students to achieve performance expectations.
- Identify and act on performance improvement opportunities to implement best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field required.
- CTRS certification from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) preferred.
- No experience in lieu of a degree accepted.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
- High level of service delivery and initiative.
Qualifications
- Effective problem-solving skills for therapeutic recreation evaluation, interpretation, treatment planning, and execution.
- Basic skills in teaching and self-assessment of learning needs and professional goals.
- Safely execute job responsibilities without risking injury to self or patients.
- Ability to assess and interact with patients and families using theories of human growth and development, family systems, and cultural background.
- Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office applications.
- Initiative with the ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing situations.
