Recreation Therapy Aide (PER DIEM)

About the Role

Develop and implement a variety of recreation programs and services to residents that are socially, physically, and cognitively stimulating.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement activity plans for residents, including small groups, special events, and entertainment.
• Motivate residents for participation in planned groups or on a one-to-one basis, modifying programs to meet individual needs.
• Encourage resident participation and provide escort if necessary.
• Maintain participation logs for programs.
• Attend meetings as required.
• Participate in educational programs and in-services as mandated.
• Plan and/or accompany residents on outings.
• Understand and follow universal precautions and MSDS books.
• Review evaluations on new residents completed by the Recreation Manager.
• Evening and weekend hours possible.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Public Service License.
• Ability to push/pull wheelchairs, climb ladders (e.g., decorating), use push carts for decorations or supplies, and perform extensive standing/walking.
• Willingness to work under quarantine, universal precautions, and occasional long hours.

Schedule

Per diem (evening and weekend hours possible).
