Job Description
The Recreation Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, treatment planning, treatment implementation, documentation, and reporting of all patients assigned. The Recreation Therapist develops and administers therapeutic groups that enhance the patients' physical, cognitive, social, psychological and emotional well being. The Recreation Therapist II acts as an advanced clinician for the department. Provides recreation therapy services to mental health clients. Performs additional assignments for the department.
Qualifications
- Must hold active certification from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (or be eligible for and actively seeking certification)
- Minimum of 18 months of acute care or inpatient hospital experience
- Must be able to provide therapeutic interventions in all delivery arenas
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals
- Communicate cooperatively and effectively to patients, family members, employees and others
- Listen well, take direction and engage in interactive dialogues with others
- Share clinical expertise with other department members
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent
