RECREATION THERAPIST, CF - CALIFORNIA STATE PRISON - SACRAMENTO

About the role

The Recreation Therapist, Correctional Facility (RT, CF) develops, implements, and evaluates therapeutic recreation programs for patients within California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation institutions. They instruct and motivate patients in individual and group recreation therapy, monitor and document treatment progress, and collaborate with other healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and motivate patients in individual and group recreation therapy
• Maintain order and supervise the conduct of patients to protect and maintain the safety of persons and property
• Monitor and document treatment progress
• Collaborate with other health care providers to share recreational therapy assessment information and incorporate therapeutic recreational activities into treatment plans

Requirements

• Education: Equivalent to graduation from a recognized college with major work in recreation or recreation therapy. Must include supervised field work.
• Minimum Requirements: As outlined in the Class Specification.

Qualifications

• Certification from the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification (CBRPC) or the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, Inc. (NCTRC).

Benefits

• This classification is subject to Section 5, Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) Authorization of the California State Civil Service Pay Scales. The authorized HAM rate for this classification is $9,159.
• One-time recruitment and retention stipend of up to $10,000 if eligible.
• Monthly recruitment and retention differential of up to $5,000 during the first year if eligible.
• $5,000 referral bonus if selected for hire and remains employed with CCHCS for 90 days.

Pay

$9,159.00 - $9,903.00 per Month
