Responsibilities

• Evaluates, formulates, and reviews treatment plans for patients.
• Performs and documents procedures and treatments according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Assesses each patient's level of functioning, including comprehension, performance capabilities, interactive skills, and ADL skills.
• Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings and contributes to treatment planning.
• Engages in unit-based quality improvement processes.
• Serves as a patient advocate, ensuring confidentiality and privacy.
• Controls costs while maintaining patient safety and quality of care.
• Reports potential patient safety issues using the occurrence reporting system.
• Follows guidelines for reporting significant medical errors or adverse outcomes.
• Attends in-service presentations and completes mandatory education requirements.
• Improves patient safety through the use of Performance Improvement Plans.
• Maintains regular, punctual, and dependable attendance.
• Responds appropriately to manpower requests as a crisis prevention intervention trained staff member.
• Promotes positive patient interactions and exceptional patient service.
• Adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement”.

Requirements

• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 90 days of employment.
• Fingerprint required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or Recreational Therapy.
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or Recreation Therapist certification.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of therapy programs under the RT scope of practice.
• Ability to assess and document patient levels of functioning.
• Experience in multidisciplinary team settings.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Ability to control costs without compromising patient safety.
• Proficiency in the occurrence reporting system.
• Understanding of Performance Improvement Plans.
• Positive attitude and dedication to patient care.
