Recreation Therapist

About the role

The Recreation Therapist plans, organizes, and supervises recreational activities to promote healthy leisure, socialization, and skill development for youth in a human services setting.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements recreational activities that enhance physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
• Serves as a role model and mentor for youth participants.
• Supervises and coordinates activities with other staff members.
• Maintains a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.

Requirements

• Relevant bachelor’s degree
• Youth recreation experience
• CPR certification
• Valid driver’s license
• Knowledge of de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, and ethical conduct

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills

• Effective communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Knowledge of youth development principles
