Recreation Therapist

About the role

The Recreation Therapist directs the therapeutic recreation program at Holy Cross Hospital West Valley. The role involves conducting individual and group therapies using recreation as a tool for building healthier coping skills, better use of leisure time, etc. The therapist assists patients in achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and coping with their mental illness.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Graduate degree with an emphasis in Recreational Therapy (Therapeutic Recreation)
• One year of experience in an acute care setting
• Previous mental health experience preferred
• Demonstrates clinical and ethical professionalism, conflict resolution, and critical thinking skills
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 90 days of hire
• CTRS certification upon hire or must obtain within six months of hire
• Licensed as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (TRC) with the State of UT
• Maintains physical ability to perform medium work - exert up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Graduate degree with an emphasis in Recreational Therapy (Therapeutic Recreation)
• One year of experience in an acute care setting

• Proficiency in recreational activities and techniques

Pay

$22.18 - $32.18 /hour

Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, some weekends
