About the role
The Recreation Therapist directs the therapeutic recreation program at Holy Cross Hospital West Valley. The role involves conducting individual and group therapies using recreation as a tool for building healthier coping skills, better use of leisure time, etc. The therapist assists patients in achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and coping with their mental illness.
Responsibilities

- Aids patients in achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and coping with their mental illness
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Graduate degree with an emphasis in Recreational Therapy (Therapeutic Recreation)
- One year of experience in an acute care setting
- Previous mental health experience preferred
- Demonstrates clinical and ethical professionalism, conflict resolution, and critical thinking skills
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 90 days of hire
- CTRS certification upon hire or must obtain within six months of hire
- Licensed as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (TRC) with the State of UT
- Maintains physical ability to perform medium work - exert up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Graduate degree with an emphasis in Recreational Therapy (Therapeutic Recreation)
- One year of experience in an acute care setting
- Previous mental health experience preferred

Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop and implement therapeutic programs
- Knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment modalities
- Proficiency in recreational activities and techniques

Schedule
Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, some weekends
