Recreation Therapist - 2026

Duties

• Guide recreation and experiential therapy groups weekly
• Complete recreation therapy intake assessments and develop a treatment plan to meet the treatment goals for each patient
• Complete progress notes and other necessary documentation
• Attend and participate in recreation therapy team meetings, clinical, and treatment team meetings weekly
• Plan recreational therapy outings in coordination with outside agencies and other staff while adhering to a budget
• Plan and carry out 3-5 adventure camping trips each year
• Identify, address, and mitigate risks to students and staff involved in activities, especially adventure camping trips
• Co-facilitate a weekly academic rock climbing class
• Lead winter sports (snow-boarding, skiing) program through winter months.

Requirements

• State licensure (TRS) and national certification (CTRS)
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in recreation therapy
• Holds a previous or current Ropes Course certification
• Able to pass criminal investigation background check
• Able to pass motor vehicle record check
• Current Utah driver's license (within 30 days of employment)
• Certified in 1st Aid & CPR
• Crisis Intervention training
• Google suite proficiency, or equivalent software

Preferred

• 2-3 years of residential program experience
• Previous experience working with residential populations
• Managerial Experience
• Rock Climbing experience
