Recreation Specialist I - Madison Jobe Senior Center

Duties

• Plan and lead daily recreational activities, field trips, and special events for seniors.
• Develop new programs and suggest improvements to current offerings.
• Aid in marketing and outreach efforts, including creating flyers, calendars, and newsletters.
• Build and maintain partnerships with sponsors and community organizations.
• Set up and break down rooms for activities; ensure equipment is prepared and functional.
• Greet and assist visitors, provide tours, and answer phones.
• Drive City vehicles, including buses, to transport participants to and from activities.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies appropriately; maintain a safe environment.
• Support event logistics, hospitality, and overall facility operations.
• Supervise part-time staff or volunteers as directed.
• Assist with cleaning and decorating the facility when needed.
• May be required to work flexible schedule including some evenings and/or weekends.
• May be required to assist in cleaning facilities in the absence of custodial staff.
• Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Senior Adult Services, Gerontology, or closely related field.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience; a combination of related experience and education may be considered.
• Valid Texas driver's license and a good driving record.
• Obtain CPR certification, First Aid certification, and Food Manager certification within six months of hire.
• PREFERRED: Prior experience working directly with seniors and individuals with disabilities; Bilingual (English/Spanish); Valid Class B CDL with passenger endorsement.

• From 26 years of service and up - six weeks of vacation per year.
• Salary: $18.55 per hour.
