Recreation Program Assistant

Part-time position supporting the After-School Program for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. This role is vital in creating a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for youth participants during after-school hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and leading recreational activities for youth.
• Supervise children to ensure a safe and supportive atmosphere.
• Maintain recreational equipment and supplies.
• Engage with children and families to foster a positive experience.
• Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support program needs and special events.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Arizona Class D Driver’s License.
• Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card Level 1 (required upon hire).
• Availability to work afternoons starting after 3 PM, as well as nights and weekends.
• Ability to lift and move recreational equipment and supplies up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution (preferred).
• Prior experience working with youth in grades K-6 in recreational, educational, or community-based settings (preferred).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• First Aid and CPR certification (preferred), or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Special Working Conditions

• Mix of indoor and outdoor settings, including school facilities, parks, and multipurpose rooms.
• Regular physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and active participation in youth activities.
• Evening and weekend shifts may be required for special events or program needs.

Physical Requirements

• Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
• Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Pay

$17.22 – $24.11 hourly
