About the role

A vacancy exists in the Department of Recreation and Parks for a Recreation Community Supervisor I in the Therapeutic Program. Pay Schedule VI, Grade 26, Regular Schedule: 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Human Services Program Supervisor and the Regional Coordinator in planning, organizing, and supervising therapeutic recreation and parks programs, and the operation and maintenance of community recreation facilities.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive therapeutic recreational programs that meet the needs and interests of constituents across the County.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate a variety of therapeutic recreational activities, including sports leagues, fitness programs, arts and crafts, and special events.
  • Collaborate with community organizations and partners to enhance program offerings and promote participation.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate program coordinators and staff members.
  • Develop and manage program budgets to ensure resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Maintain and update program policies and procedures to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular evaluations and assessments of program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Provide excellent customer service to program participants, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes teamwork, creativity, and personal growth.
  • Stay up to date with trends and best practices in recreation and parks management.
  • Enter and monitor programs and data into the registration software: CivicRec.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in recreation and parks, physical education, business or public administration, behavioral or health sciences, education, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in therapeutic program development and management, preferably in a recreational setting.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic programming principles, techniques, and trends.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Proficiency in computer applications related to program management and reporting.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
