Recreation Assistant

Are you passionate about enriching the lives of older adults and creating meaningful experiences for participants? Trinity Health PACE is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and creative Recreation Assistant to support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic recreational activities that enhance the quality of life for our participants.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and implement dementia-focused programming
• Cook up and facilitate engaging group and individual activities
• Assist in creating individualized activity plans based on participant assessments and care plans
• Promote socialization, lifelong learning, physical activity, and personal interests
• Coordinate recreational activities
• Develop monthly and quarterly activity calendars
• Develop quarterly newsletters for participants and caregivers
• Monitor recreational supplies and equipment
• Maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues across departments
• Contribute to participant care planning and support educational initiatives for staff when appropriate

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of one year of experience working with a frail or elderly population, or willingness to complete required training upon hire
• Education or training in geriatrics, including dementia care, preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (ASL proficiency welcomed)
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and relationship-building abilities
• Ability to adapt to change, manage conflict effectively, and maintain a positive team-oriented approach
