Recreation Assistant

About the role

The Recreation Assistant position at Burcham Hills is a dynamic opportunity to engage residents in meaningful group and one-to-one recreation opportunities. This role is part-time or per diem and is based in East Lansing, MI.

Responsibilities

- Facilitate the residential neighborhoods daily recreation and activity program to meet the specific needs of each resident. - Lead both group and one-to-one activities to enrich residents' lives. - Plan, direct, and evaluate the ongoing life recreation program.

Requirements

- Coursework in various aspects of eldercare, recreation, event planning or related subjects. - Bachelor's Degree preferred. - Experience working with geriatrics in a long-term care, assisted living, or other related residential health care setting. - Demonstrated understanding, patience, tact, respect, and courtesy in dealing with residents, families, and visitors. - Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. - Ability to obtain a chauffeurs' driver’s license and maintain an excellent driving record.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred. - Experience in eldercare, recreation, or similar fields. - Patience, tact, and respect for residents and visitors. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to plan and execute activities.
