RECREATION AIDE

About the role

Provide recreational assistance to members of the Duke University community, including safeguarding swimming areas to prevent accidents, instructing members in various recreational activities such as swimming and tennis, and maintaining recreational equipment in proper condition.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and guard activities of swimmers to prevent accidents.
• Rescue swimmers in danger and administer first aid as required.
• Inspect facilities for unsafe areas and cleanliness, and notify the maintenance department for necessary repairs.
• Provide instruction to members in various recreational activities, including swimming and tennis.
• Maintain recreational equipment in usable condition.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications

Work requires the ability to provide recreational assistance generally equivalent to a partial high school education. No prior experience is required.
