About the role
The Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) plays a crucial role in providing immediate-access behavioral health crisis care. This position requires a strong personal recovery background and a commitment to helping individuals achieve and maintain recovery.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a strong personal recovery and serve as a positive example of recovery.
- Work in collaboration with multiple disciplines to address individual treatment and recovery needs.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate groups and individual recovery sessions.
- Act as an individual advocate and support resource throughout the treatment process.
- Build therapeutic alliances and exercise trauma-informed care to reduce instances of seclusion and restraint.
- Utilize knowledge of community resources to assist individuals in meeting their unique recovery needs.
- Promote various paths of recovery and encourage their implementation.
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team across all stages of an individual's treatment and recovery.
- Document all encounters with individuals in the electronic health record.
- Encourage and support individuals from a place of experience and understanding, willing to use appropriate self-disclosure.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least one year of personal recovery.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- American Psychological Association (APA) Certified Peer Support Specialist certification.
- Arizona Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Physical requirements include safely performing physical interventions, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Bring
- Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).
- Three or more years of personal recovery experience (desired).
- Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Workplace Behavioral Health/Substance Use Treatment or GMH Recovery experience.
- Knowledge of evidence-based/person-centered skillsets, such as Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, Verbal De-escalation, Harm Reduction, and Person-centered language.
