About the role

The Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) plays a crucial role in providing immediate-access behavioral health crisis care. This position requires a strong personal recovery background and a commitment to helping individuals achieve and maintain recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a strong personal recovery and serve as a positive example of recovery.
  • Work in collaboration with multiple disciplines to address individual treatment and recovery needs.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate groups and individual recovery sessions.
  • Act as an individual advocate and support resource throughout the treatment process.
  • Build therapeutic alliances and exercise trauma-informed care to reduce instances of seclusion and restraint.
  • Utilize knowledge of community resources to assist individuals in meeting their unique recovery needs.
  • Promote various paths of recovery and encourage their implementation.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team across all stages of an individual's treatment and recovery.
  • Document all encounters with individuals in the electronic health record.
  • Encourage and support individuals from a place of experience and understanding, willing to use appropriate self-disclosure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least one year of personal recovery.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • American Psychological Association (APA) Certified Peer Support Specialist certification.
  • Arizona Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Physical requirements include safely performing physical interventions, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Bring

  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).
  • Three or more years of personal recovery experience (desired).
  • Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Workplace Behavioral Health/Substance Use Treatment or GMH Recovery experience.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based/person-centered skillsets, such as Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, Verbal De-escalation, Harm Reduction, and Person-centered language.
