Recovery Support Specialist- Community Support Team

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) plays a vital role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges under the supervision of the Program Director. CST services focus on reducing hospitalizations and crises while increasing community functioning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide support to individuals experiencing mental health crises
• Deliver services in natural settings aligned with individual needs
• Facilitate the development of action plans to ensure safety and stability
• Absorb and assist individuals in identifying strengths, wellness goals, and barriers to recovery
• Model healthy coping techniques, self-help strategies, and self-care practices
• Support individuals in creating a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) or Peer-to-Peer plan
• Recognize high-risk indicators and take appropriate action
• Encourage self-advocacy to combat stigma and build empowerment skills
• Conduct outreach and follow-up with individuals as needed
• Maintain accurate service documentation
