Recovery Support Specialist

Position Overview

Responsibilities

• Makes security/safety checks throughout shift
• Completes documentation including rounds sheets, therapeutic activities notes, and End of Shift reports
• Records patient behavior
• Ensures patient safety and utilizes trauma-informed approaches
• Assists with daily patient activities
• Recognizes and responds to signs of emotional distress, escalation, and behavioral instability
• Facilitates crisis intervention and de-escalation
• Communicates patient concerns and observations to clinical and nursing staff
• Processes patient belongings for new admissions and visitations
• Assists with orientation and visitation programs
• Supports and instructs clients in the RCA Clinical Curriculum
• Aids in transporting patients and belongings (as applicable)
• Demonstrates appropriate confidentiality and exhibits excellent customer relations

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience of 1 year in behavioral health and/or substance use disorder treatment preferred
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
• Proficiency with technology and familiarity with behavior modification and 12-step modalities
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record (as applicable)
• Knowledge of recovery-oriented systems of care, including 12-step principles, relapse prevention, and patient-centered recovery approaches
• Comfortable using various communication styles and adaptable to new information and changes
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds
