About the Role
Researches and analyzes outstanding student balances, including institutional loan borrowers, maintains institutional records of borrower accounts in repayment, and responds to issues and inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Researches and analyzes outstanding student balances, including balances from institutional loan borrowers in accordance with federal regulations to ensure amounts owed to NSU are collected and to increase student retention.
- Maintains institutional records of borrower accounts in repayment to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal regulations.
- Updates and maintains institutional procedures regarding federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Responds, counsels on repayment options, and resolves borrower issues and inquiries to ensure clear, accurate, and timely communication.
- Communicates and collaborates with third-party vendors and federal agencies regarding student borrower issues, inquiries, and collection activities to ensure efficiency.
- Creates and reviews reports and maintains institutional records of loan borrower accounts in repayment to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal regulations.
- Processes vendor check requests through Ariba.
- Processes, tracks, maintains, and reconciles student payments to ensure accurate postings of accounts and increase cash flow to the university.
- Assists the Manager and senior ESS administration in outreach activities (including Gap initiative) to counsel students regarding outstanding requirements and/or payment options to reduce outstanding balances and write-offs.
- Responds to inquiries from University Call Center Triage calls.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma and five (5) or more years of related accounting support experience, or Associate’s degree or 60 completed college credit hours and three (3) years of related accounting support experience, or Bachelor’s degree and one (1) or more years of related accounting support experience.
Skills
- Ability to accurately handle numbers (account reconciliations), compute numbers mathematically, and transcribe numbers correctly. Strong 10-key skills.
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; data entry skills; Internet research abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize work to complete multiple tasks within time deadlines.

- Ability to enter and verify information with accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree.
- Experience working in collections or a related field.
- Experience working in an academic institution, preferably in higher education.
- Experience in Banner and other NSU software systems.

- Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels.
- May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
- May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, including pens, pencils, and computer keyboards.
Pay
$20.25 per hour / $39,487.50 annually.
