Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) at Sheridan Memorial Hospital provides safe, effective, patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across inpatient and outpatient settings. The RN prioritizes care based on patient needs, responds appropriately to changes in condition, and communicates effectively with providers and the care team.

Essential Duties

  • Patient Care & Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provides safe, patient-centered care that minimizes risk and supports optimal outcomes.
  • Performs comprehensive assessments and reassessments in accordance with patient condition, age, and organizational policy.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized plans of care based on patient needs and response to treatment.
  • Prioritizes care and responds appropriately to changes in patient condition.
  • Administers treatments, medications, and interventions within scope of practice.
  • Aids with procedures and performs clinical skills requiring technical competence.
  • Coordinates and delegates care activities as appropriate.

  • Communicates clearly and effectively with providers, patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.

  • Documents care in accordance with regulatory, legal, and organizational standards.
  • Identifies and reports safety concerns, near misses, adverse events, and patient complaints in a timely manner.
  • Participates in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Service Excellence & Work Environment
  • Treats patients and families with respect, dignity, and compassion.
  • Maintains effective working relationships within the department and across the organization.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current unrestricted Wyoming or Multi-State Registered Nurse Licensure, required.
  • A graduate of an accredited school of nursing, an associate’s degree in nursing required.
  • BLS required.
  • Central Registry required.
  • ACLS is required within 1 year of start.
  • PALS is required within 1 year of start.
  • Behavioral De-escalations, preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of acute care experience, preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in acute care surgery, preferred.
  • Additional Skills
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple patient care activities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency or high-stress situations.
  • Knowledge of patient safety principles and infection prevention practices.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic health records (EHR).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
