About the role
Oversees the daily operations and productivity of the Recovery Department. Ensures that staff is in compliance with applicable federal and state laws governing the collection of consumer debts and abides with the Credit Union's established policies, procedures and practices.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership, planning, motivation, guidance, encouragement and development to all assigned staff within their area of responsibility.
- Represents the best interests of both the Credit Union and its members.
- Mets with supervisors regularly to discuss performance and department related business.
- Communicates with management concerning the effectiveness and overall performance of the department.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts/Science degree from an accredited college or university required, or 4 years of additional collections experience required in lieu of a degree.
- 3 years collections experience in consumer, direct and indirect auto loans, credit card and mortgages required.
- Experience in a call center environment beneficial.
- 2 years supervisory experience required.
- Must be knowledgeable of Debtor/Creditor Collection Law, Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, and Florida Statutes pertaining to the collection of consumer debts.
- Familiarization with bankruptcy law is beneficial.
- Excellent telephonic communication, negotiation and analytical skills needed.
- Demonstrate ability to recognize and resolve problems quickly and to provide accurate information.
- Demonstrate the ability to remain courteous in pressure situations.
- Intermediate to advanced operational knowledge of general office and PC equipment and the use of automated collection software required.
Qualifications
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and type English.
- Must be able to hear and use a telephone.
- Use of computer requires repetitive keystrokes.
