Recovery Court Driver #2906 - Part Time - Recovery Court - Unassigned Division
This is a part-time position.
About the role
Under general supervision, operates a twelve (12) to fifteen (15) person passenger van, in addition to other vehicles, to transport Hamilton County Recovery Court participants between transportation pick-up stops, the Hamilton County Courthouse, the Recovery Court treatment center, and inpatient treatment locations.
Responsibilities
- Operate a twelve (12) to fifteen (15) person passenger van to transport Hamilton County Recovery Court participants.
- Perform vehicle and equipment checks to ensure safe operation; conduct preventive maintenance as needed.
- Receive daily instruction from the Recovery Court Program Coordinator; ensure workplace safety.
- Maintain documentation of work performed and vehicle service records.
- Conduct and monitor drug and alcohol screening for program participants as needed.
Requirements
- Equivalent of a high school diploma.
- Two (2) years of direct work experience operating a twelve (12) to fifteen (15) person passenger van.
- Valid class F driver’s license from the state of Tennessee or equivalent from the applicant’s state of residence.
- Completion of the Hamilton County Defensive Driving course issued by the National Safety Council and/or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) prior to operating a County-owned vehicle.
Skills
- Knowledge of operating and service manuals for vehicles and equipment.
- Knowledge of Hamilton County work order system, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and County codes and regulations relating to vehicle operation and workplace safety.
- Knowledge of County geography.
- Skill in operating a variety of vehicles and equipment.
- Skill in reading, interpreting, and applying Federal, State, and County rules and regulations.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with the public, department staff, other County departments, and program participants.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency. A test will be required.
Physical Requirements
- Moderate physical effort involving considerable sitting and driving with intermittent walking and standing.
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to thirty-five (35) pounds.
Additional Information
This position is identified as “safety sensitive” under 49 CFR Part 40 and is subject to drug and alcohol testing for: post-offer pre-employment, reasonable cause, post-accident, random testing, return to duty after suspension, and follow-up.
Work is primarily in-person and requires regular, punctual attendance. Irregular hours, shift work, and work on holidays or weekends may be required with short notice.
