The Records Clerk I position at Lewis and Clark County Treasurer/Clerk & Recorder is responsible for:
- Recording and indexing documents relating to land records, federal tax liens, discharges from military service and powers of attorney.
- Scanning documents and maintaining digital records.
- Processing requests for duplicate birth and death certificates.
- Calculating payments and fees for documents.
- Performing cash receipting.
- Responding to citizen inquiries as needed.
- Auxiliary tasks as assigned.

Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- A high school diploma and one (1) year experience in office support, clerical, or reception.
- An associates degree in Business or Office Technology, and land and title experience preferred.
- A current Notary preferred.
Summary Duties
Specific duties include:
- Records and indexes documents relating to land records, federal tax liens, discharges from military service and powers of attorney.
- Scans documents, and maintains digital records.
- Researches land records and performs searches for deeds, mortgages and other documents.
- Processes requests for duplicate birth and death certificates.
- Calculates payments and fees for documents.
- Performs cash receipting.
- Responds to citizen inquiries as needed.
- Auxiliary tasks as assigned.
Physical Demands
This position requires:
- Standing for long periods of time.
- To twist, stoop, reach, push, pull and lift up to 30 pounds on occasion.
- Knowledge and use of typical office equipment including telephone, computer terminals and personal computer.
- Regular contact with fellow employees and frequent contact with citizens.
