About the role

This classification level performs clerical work under immediate supervision in a county court under the supervision of a clerk magistrate, a clerk of court, or a division manager. Work may involve criminal/traffic, civil/small claims, or probate, guardian conservator and adoption areas.

The Judicial Branch does not sponsor STEM (form i-983) or non-immigrant work visas for this position.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to internal and external customers, including answering phones, greeting walk-in visitors, and responding to routine inquiries.
• Perform clerical tasks such as collecting fees, fines, and other payments; receiving, processing, sorting, filing, and distributing correspondence, materials, billings, payments, mail, and documents.
• Enter information into court databases and other computerized systems to maintain records and process court motions.
• Prepare, record, and maintain information, verifying files for accuracy and ensuring corrections are made as needed.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level, with specific assignments varying based on department needs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
• All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Department of Education.

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class involve primarily sedentary work, although some slight physical effort may be required, not to exceed 20 lbs.

Pay

• Starting Salary: $35,264.16 annually (Hiring Rate: $16.954/hour).
• Immediate Growth: Earn a 2.5% pay increase after successfully completing your probation period (if starting at Hiring Rate).
• Starting Rate Flexibility: Higher starting pay may be considered based on education and experience, subject to final management approval. Candidates approved to start above the Hiring Rate (at or above the Minimum Permanent rate) are not eligible for the 2.5% post-probation increase.
• Future Increases: Annual cost-of-living adjustments (applied on July 1) are subject to State Legislature approval.
