About the role
The Receptionist position is the initial point of contact for clients and the public. This role involves interacting with families and providing administrative support to funeral directors, managers, and co-workers.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate trust, compassion, and empathy in all aspects of the position.
- Maintain a positive work environment by behaving and communicating professionally.
- Provide the first point of contact with the public, answering phones professionally and ensuring family comfort.
- Ensure the funeral home is "family ready" at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness of reception area, conference rooms, viewing rooms, chapel, restrooms, and administrative areas.
- Be a conduit of information, both in and out of the funeral home.
- Ensure appropriate office supplies are available.
- Support funeral directors and managers by completing, checking for accuracy, and filing necessary forms and documents related to death, including insurance, social security, military, death certificates, etc.
- Create/design and print memorial books, acknowledgement cards, memorial folders, stationery, bulletins, tribute videos, etc., for memorial packages.
- Stay updated with all technology provided to enhance job efficiency.
- Schedule support staff for services and act as a liaison between support staff and funeral directors, sharing information about services, family needs, special requests, meetings, and special events.
- Assist with daytime funeral and memorial services, setting up equipment, and managing refreshments and family display items.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Two (2) years of administrative support experience
Qualifications
- Good written and verbal communication skills for interactions with grieving families, co-workers, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate with co-workers and work independently.
- Effective communication with the manager and proactive contribution to group objectives.
- Openly share viewpoints and information and actively listen to others' ideas and suggestions.
Skills
- Knowledge of technology to enhance job efficiency.
