About the Role
Receiving managers oversee the intake of supplies and other items shipped to the distribution center. This hands-on leadership role ensures the successful operation of the receiving department through strong management expertise and individual judgment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee incoming shipments, review purchase orders, match shipped items to orders, note discrepancies, document received items, and update inventory databases.
- Organize and maintain stock by ensuring items are properly tagged, labeled, and stored safely within the warehouse. Supervise teams in operating equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Periodically review and update warehouse receiving processes to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Retrain warehouse personnel as needed.
- Ensure safe warehouse operations and supply storage by implementing safety practices, complying with state and federal regulations, posting safety information, and training employees in safety methods.
- Enforce all company policies and procedures within the assigned area through effective delegation and management of work, time, and resources.
- Operate forklifts or industrial trucks to assist in loading, unloading, or moving merchandise and materials as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2+ years of receiving experience.
- Basic math skills and proficiency in computer/data entry.
- Management experience is preferred.
- Flexibility to work any open store hours.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Highly motivated and capable of motivating others to achieve company goals.
- Excellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
