Receiving Inspector II

Contractor position focused on inspection of purchased parts, materials, components, and equipment upon receipt from vendors or subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Conducts detailed dimensional and visual inspections on critical parts, assemblies, and raw material, including first piece, in-process, incoming, and final inspections.
• Uses inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators.
• Works from drawings, sketches, and specifications, adapting inspection measuring devices and procedures as necessary.
• Documents inspection findings, producing necessary documentation and reports to establish acceptance or rejection.
• Determines or assists in determining methods, sequences, and procedures necessary for inspection.
• Handles moderately difficult assignments, requiring judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations.
• Travels to supplier sites within 100 miles.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent; vocational school or technical training preferred.
• Minimum 2–4 years of mechanical inspection experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 guidelines, including requirements, maintenance, and implementation.
• Experience using tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators.
• Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with source inspections and/or audits is desired.
• Intermediate to advanced drawing interpretation skills.
• Understanding of geometrical tolerancing and dimensional measurements.
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite for documenting findings and producing inspection reports.
• Highly motivated, committed to high-quality standards, and able to function with minimal supervision.
• Competency in reading, comprehending, and ensuring compliance with internal standards, drawings, and customer requirements.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with small teams sharing a broad variety of duties.

Physical Demands

• Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment (constant).
• Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (frequent).

• This position requires access to information subject to ITAR and/or EAR compliance. Applicants must qualify as a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or be eligible for an export license. Some positions may require current U.S. citizenship due to contract requirements.
