About the Role
Company Receiving Clerks creates an exceptional customer service experience by ensuring shipments of products and supplies are received, inspected, and recorded properly to maintain properly stocked store locations.
Responsibilities
- Receive shipments and sign paperwork upon receipt to verify delivery.
- Unload packages from incoming trucks using a forklift or other equipment as necessary.
- Inspect content to identify damaged products and report issues to management.
- Verify packages against order and invoice information, including quantity, quality, and pricing.
- Contact suppliers or shippers regarding discrepancies and collaborate to resolve issues.
- Return unsatisfactory shipments and receive replacements.
- Label deliveries and allocate them to designated locations.
- Ensure invoices for satisfactory deliveries are signed and paid for.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with inventory control.
- Maintain security watch on receiving areas and entry doors.
- Inspect all items being taken out of receiving doors.
- Record and process shrink for disposal.
- Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause accidents.
- Assist in maintaining a clean environment by wiping spills, sweeping floors, removing litter, and mopping.
- Comply with safety standards and report malfunctioning equipment.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
- Strong computer skills and software management.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Strong communication skills with both customers and coworkers.
- Ability to operate general office equipment.
- Knowledge of and experience complying with safety principles, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate equipment necessary for the role, including forklifts.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including day, evening, and weekend shifts.
- Strong organizational skills for arranging grocery items systematically.
- Working knowledge of computer programs for data entry.
- Basic math skills.
- Safe operation of tools and equipment.
Qualifications
- Experience operating a forklift.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements
This position requires heavy lifting and carrying of objects up to 80 pounds, with frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and inspecting goods. Work is performed indoors and outdoors and is subject to weather and climate conditions.
