Receiving Associate (Illinois)

About the role
The Receiving Associate is responsible for efficiently loading and unloading shipments, dividing them for storage or movement to the sales area. This includes unpacking, preparing merchandise, setting up displays, stocking shelves, and managing inventory. The role ensures products are accessible, well-stocked, and safely stored while adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for receiving and processing apparel.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload shipments, dividing them for storage or movement to the sales floor.
- Unpack, prepare, and merchandise products, including setting up displays and stocking shelves.
- Ensure products are easy to reach, well-distributed, and always in stock.
- Adhere to SOPs for receiving and processing apparel, including accurate merchandising of apparel racks.
- Execute precise purchase order processing using scan guns and computer-based software.
- Monitor and address purchase order and distribution center (DC) shortages daily.
- Maintain thorough records by filing receiving paperwork daily.
- Contribute to efficient DC truck sorting and verify vendor price tags.
- Implement security tag placement and price labeling per SOP for select apparel items.
- Ensure adequate supplies inventory, including hangers, labels, and security tags.
- Handle store-to-store transfers, shipping, and receiving with accurate recordkeeping.
- Assist in inventory management on sales floors during high-demand periods.
- Collaborate with the receiving team for seamless regular receiving operations.
- Organize products onto rocket carts for effective distribution.
- Transport sorted freight to sales floors, ensuring appropriate quantities.
- Assist management in accurate merchandise tracking.
- Facilitate smooth store-to-store and UPS transfers.
- Contribute to managing negative on-hand inventory research and review.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization to create a safe work environment.
- Operate general office equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other tools.
- Participate in cross-training for flexibility in various departments and responsibilities.
- Engage in learning initiatives such as training programs, workshops, and webinars.
- Provide friendly, proactive, and professional internal and external support.

Requirements
- At least 1 year of receiving experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
- Proven track record of producing error-free work and meeting quality standards.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Comfortable navigating computer systems and software.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to maintain a seated or standing position for extended durations.
- Ability to lift, push, and/or pull a minimum of 30 pounds repetitively and 31-50 pounds intermittently.
- Ability to use a ladder, pallet jack, and forklift.
- Able to navigate and access all facilities.
- Skill to effectively communicate verbally with others, both in-person and via electronic devices.
- Close vision for computer-related activities.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $15.25 - $18.60 per hour, with exact compensation determined by factors such as relevant geographic location, education, certifications, experience, job level, shift, and organizational needs. Eligible associates may also receive overtime pay in compliance with applicable laws.
