Receiver - Inventory Control Clerk

About the role

A Day In The Life As a Receiver / Inventory Control Clerk (ICC), you’ll be overseeing all Direct Store Delivery (DSD) operations, ensuring merchandise is accurately received, accounted for, and stocked. You’ll walk the store daily to scan DSD items, identify out-of-stock or overstock conditions, and partner closely with order writers, night crew, merchandisers, and the File Maintenance Clerk. You’ll also communicate regularly with the Store Director to support inventory accuracy and promotional execution. Your role includes monitoring donations, managing grocery and non-perishable inventories, and maintaining a secure, clean, and organized backroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all Direct Store Delivery (DSD) operations
• Accurately receive, account for, and stock merchandise
• Scan DSD items and identify out-of-stock or overstock conditions
• Partner with order writers, night crew, merchandisers, and the File Maintenance Clerk
• Communicate with the Store Director to support inventory accuracy and promotional execution
• Monitor donations and manage grocery and non-perishable inventories
• Maintain a secure, clean, and organized backroom environment
• Monitor damaged, expired, or salvageable merchandise and process returns for credit

Requirements

• Experience with receiving, tracking, and reconciling inventory, especially in a retail or grocery environment
• Basic computer skills including email, Excel, and familiarity with store portals or inventory systems
• Ability to monitor damaged, expired, or salvageable merchandise and process returns accurately
• Strong organizational skills to maintain cleanliness, security, and order in the backroom and receiving areas
• Problem-solving ability to make decisions independently and resolve inventory and delivery issues
• Effective communication with vendors, delivery drivers, store management, and fellow associates
• Physical capability to lift/carry 5–50 lbs., push/pull 10–50 lbs., and stand or walk for extended periods
