Rear Load Residential Helper

About the role

The Rear Load Residential Helper assists the refuse truck on pre-assigned and special routes to pick up garbage, yard waste, or recycling. When not assigned to a refuse truck, the Helper performs tasks at the facility involving manual labor.

Responsibilities

• Picking up and placing waste into the refuse truck.
• Ensuring garbage and recyclables at residences are picked up and transferred properly.
• Aiding drivers in safely backing up the truck by directing the driver from the ground.
• Cleaning behind the compactor blade with a shovel and hoe when directed.
• Spraying and cleaning the hopper and truck at the end of each shift or as needed using proper lock out/tag out procedures.
• Entering and exiting the truck up to 700 times daily.
• Aiding other routes as needed to complete daily work.
• Completing assigned job tasks with physical strength and flexibility.

Requirements

• Regularly stand for long periods of time.
• Able to bend, stoop, climb, reach.
• Able to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
• Work in an outdoor or shop environment.
• General knowledge of cleaning standards utilizing tools like brooms, shovels, rakes, etc.
