Rear Load Driver
About the role
Interstate Waste Services is the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services in the country. We primarily service Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, New York City, and recently expanded our operations of transfer stations into Pennsylvania and Ohio, where we also own and operate a state-of-the-art rail-served landfill. Responsibilities
- Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material
- Transport material to a disposal, transfer or recycling facility, making one or more trips throughout the shift
- Navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations
- Perform highly skilled backing maneuvers essential to successfully perform the job
- Routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts
- Conduct driver pre- and post-trip inspections
- Ensure truck is in compliance with IWS's safety standards as well as OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws, prior to and while operating the vehicle
- Repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, and move and maneuver up to 100 pounds
- Mount and dismount the truck multiple times every route
Requirements
- 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States
- Valid Class A or B CDL with Airbrake Endorsement
- Great safety record and clean MVR
- Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA and applicable traffic regulations
- Ability to speak and read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic and signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports and records
- Ability to read and understand a map
- Meet physical and safety requirements of the position
- Willing and able to work required hours as allowed under DOT regulation, which may include weekend, night and/or holiday work
Qualifications
- 1-year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years
- Experience as a driver or helper for a refuse company is highly preferred

Pay
Salary range minimum USD $25.41/Hr.
