Hansen Consulting Group · Vernon, TX · 1 wk ago
On-siteConsultingContract

Hansen Consulting Group (HCG) is a specialized integrator focused on aligning people, process, and technology across the full project lifecycle, not simply producing 3D models. HCG helps project teams solve process and data issues that impact planning, procurement, construction, and commissioning, using BIM as a data and quality management workflow. We emphasize process-first workflows, BIM-to-prefab manufacturing-to-installation integration, defensible BIM Execution Plans, and embedded accountability across the project lifecycle. HCG consultants are embedded on large, complex projects across multiple states, serving sectors including data centers, semiconductors, EV and battery, wastewater, oil and gas, and commercial construction.

About the role

The Reality Capture Specialist is responsible for independently managing and operating NavVis, VLX or MLX LiDAR scanning systems to capture and document construction progress and produce 3D point cloud data that helps project teams track the progress, identify discrepancies, and document site conditions. These scanning activities and deliverables will facilitate client scheduling and site operations, fulfill capture requirements for planning, pre-installation, active construction, and post-installation verification, as required by client and project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Project & Team Coordination – Establish and manage SOPs (standard operating procedures), scanning schedules, frequencies, and scan-based workflows per client requirements and project needs. Coordinate scan capture activities with client leadership, field supervision, quality teams, project management personnel, and other authorized project stakeholders as necessary to support reality capture implementation, while minimizing disruption to ongoing construction.
  • Reporting & Documentation – Generate project reports using captured reality data, track and document physical construction progress, identify and communicate relevant field conditions and discrepancies, and present results/findings to project stakeholders. Support delivery of point cloud and scan-based outputs for downstream project use, ensuring all captured data is archived and backed up in accordance with HCG and client company standards, and ensuring captured data is complete, accurate, and meets project requirements. Act as a technical advisor to client leadership regarding LiDAR operations, scan planning, field implementation strategy, data capture methodology, and scan-based project support. Collaborate with surveyors to obtain surveyed control points for geolocated datasets.

Qualifications

  • Experience flying drones (UAS) for aerial capture, with a valid remote pilot certification (e.g., FAA Part 107 or local equivalent)
  • Ability to capture, process, and QA 3D point cloud data, including drone photogrammetry and aerial imagery
  • Familiarity with point cloud and BIM tools (e.g., NavVis IVION, ReCap, Navisworks, Revit)
  • Working knowledge of survey control points and geolocating datasets
  • Understanding of construction phases and ability to spot discrepancies against plans
  • Experience tracking progress and producing clear reports from scan and aerial data
  • Skill in building SOPs, scan schedules, and scan-based workflows
  • Strong data management: archiving and backups per client standards
  • Stakeholder coordination with leadership, field supervisors, quality, and PMs
  • Ability to act as a technical advisor on LiDAR and aerial capture methodology and scan planning
  • Independent, detail-oriented, and adaptable to active job site
