About the role
The State Highway Administration's (SHA) Office of Real Estate is recruiting for a Real Property Specialist I position in Baltimore City. This is a career service, interview and hire position open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications.
The main purpose of this position is to provide appraisal, negotiation, relocation assistance and property management services for SHA's capital program under the guidance of a higher-level Real Property Specialist. This is a generalist position performing all duties associated with the acquisition of real estate for the capital program.
Minimum qualifications
- Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Experience: None required
Substitution options
- Additional experience in professional or technical real estate work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education
- U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the required education and experience on a year-for-year basis
Licenses & certifications
- Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland
Additional information
- Employees may be subject to Statewide assignment which may occasionally require overnight travel
- Employees must be willing and available for duty at such hours, day or night, as may be required to respond to agency operations
- All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986
- The State Highway Administration is not sponsoring new employees in application of the H-1B Visa or providing an extension of an existing H-1B Visa at this time due to budgetary constraints
- Applicants who have education obtained outside of the U.S. will be required to provide proof of the equivalent U.S. education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service
- The incumbent in this position may be a member of a covered bargaining unit
