What You’ll Do

  • Lead acquisition of easements, rights-of-way, licenses, options, and other property rights for energy and transmission infrastructure projects across the Western U.S.
  • Support route development and siting efforts through landowner identification, property ownership research, and land constraint analysis.
  • Conduct title review, ownership verification, and property due diligence to inform project planning and risk assessment.
  • Negotiate agreements with private landowners, public agencies, utilities, and other stakeholders — balancing project objectives with professional, relationship-driven engagement.
  • Cook up coordination with project managers, environmental teams, permitting specialists, and engineers as part of multidisciplinary project delivery teams.
  • Assist with real estate strategy development during project planning and feasibility phases, helping clients understand acquisition risks, land constraints, and schedule impacts.
  • Support stakeholder outreach efforts related to property acquisition and landowner engagement.
  • Maintain accurate project records, databases, and acquisition status reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide real estate expertise during project development, permitting, and construction phases.

Who You Are

  • You have 5+ years of experience supporting energy, utility, transmission, renewable energy, or infrastructure development projects.
  • You have demonstrated experience acquiring rights-of-way and easements for linear infrastructure projects — you've done this work, not just managed it.
  • You have a strong understanding of real estate acquisition processes throughout the Western United States.
  • You have direct experience working on projects in California, including familiarity with California land use, utility, and development environments.
  • You are comfortable operating within a consulting environment where client service, responsiveness, and technical expertise are paramount.
  • You are organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple active acquisitions across concurrent projects.
  • You communicate clearly and professionally with landowners, clients, agency representatives, and internal project teams.
  • You are able to travel as needed throughout the Western U.S.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience working for a consulting firm supporting utility, transmission, renewable energy, or infrastructure clients.
  • Experience supporting high-voltage transmission line and substation projects.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, tribal, and local agency coordination related to land acquisition and right-of-way.
  • Experience working with investor-owned utilities, public utilities, developers, or independent transmission companies.
  • Working knowledge of title, appraisal, survey, and land services disciplines.
  • California utility, transmission, or renewable energy project experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience delivering real estate services as part of a broader multidisciplinary consulting organization.
