Responsibilities

  • Pitch and craft engaging daily articles relevant to a Post readership and The Post’s voice under tight deadlines, and with SEO optimization in mind.
  • Produce a variety of stories, such as aggregated pieces for web and longer features to pitch for the daily newspaper.
  • Generate daily pitches that will keep readers coming back, with high quality and potential for good traffic in mind.
  • Stay plugged in and abreast of happenings in the residential real estate industry, such as properties listing for record prices, celebrity transactions and even updates to market data, like rents rising or cooling in big national markets.
  • Report and write articles with precision and accuracy, and strong adherence to the highest professional standards.
  • Attend industry events and budget time for source meetings to develop connections with brokers and publicists to keep stories coming.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in journalism or related field.
  • At least three years of experience as a real estate reporter, preferably residential real estate.
  • Exceptional writing skills with a keen understanding of fact-checking and SEO principles.
  • A creative thinker with an ability to find fun approaches to stories and to be receptive to feedback.
  • Strong knowledge of trends in residential real estate, both locally and nationally.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines while maintaining the highest standards.
  • Proficiency in WordPress or a similar CMS.
