About the Role
Jones Day is a global law firm with 40 offices in major centers of business and finance across 19 countries on five continents. We seek qualified individuals capable of delivering superior client service through professional excellence and teamwork for positions in our Real Estate and Financial Market practice areas, representing investors and lenders in commercial real estate loans, dispositions, and sale transactions.
Responsibilities
- Participate in due diligence review of title, survey, zoning, and related documents.
- Draft, edit, and conform legal documents and correspondence.
- Order and negotiate title, survey, and zoning reports.
- Identify, analyze, and summarize title, survey, and zoning issues.
- Negotiate title insurance, surveys, and zoning reports to correct title defects and issue clear title.
- Verify accuracy of final title insurance policies, surveys, and zoning reports.
- Obtain services from outside contractors, including research, filing, and printing services.
- Process bills and disbursement paperwork in connection with those services.
- Organize, prepare, and coordinate escrow closings for purchase, sale, and finance transactions, including assisting attorneys in preparing closing documents, reviewing settlement statements, signature pages, closing logistics, document execution, recordation, and delivery of agreements and documents.
- Handle post-closing matters including filing UCCs and preparation of closing binders.
- Provide general supervision of project assistants and other clerical staff as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Paralegal certification is a plus.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Real Estate paralegal at a large law firm is preferred.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Excellent Microsoft software skills.
- Title, survey, and zoning examination experience.
- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
Pay
The starting salary range for this New York position is $100,000 - $130,000.
