Real Estate Paralegal
About the Role
Haynes and Boone, LLP is seeking an accomplished and team-oriented Real Estate Paralegal to join our Commercial Real Estate Practice in the San Antonio office. This role involves preparing documentation for real estate transactions, including purchases, sales, and closings, and requires strong coordination with attorneys, landlords, developers, and other real estate professionals.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate due diligence for commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and financing.
- Review and summarize title commitments and surveys.
- Perform curative title work.
- Review and summarize UCC, judgment, tax, and other lien searches.
- Prepare and file documents such as deeds, mortgages, memoranda of leases, UCC financing statements, and more.
- Obtain permits and other documents from governmental agencies.
- Attend zoning and administrative hearings as necessary.
- Prepare and distribute closing binders.
- Prepare closing checklists and coordinate the closing process for commercial and residential transactions.
- Draft and coordinate filings at state/county levels (e.g., certificates of incorporation/formation, qualifications, bylaws, LP and LLC agreements, organizational consents, and assumed name certificates).
- Handle special projects and assist other team members as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least three years of experience with commercial real estate work, including knowledge of financing, lease negotiation, and lending documents and procedures.
- Solid title and survey background experience.
- Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved school or a bachelor’s degree in a field related to law, administration, or liberal arts.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deals simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer and technical tools.
- Ability to handle real estate transactions from initial contract through closing.
- Accurate timekeeping for billable and non-billable hours.
- Ability to conduct legal research and translate complex concepts into simple language.
Physical Demands
- Ability to move around the office up to 15% of the time for tasks such as copying, faxing, and filing.
- Remains stationary at least 85% of the time.
- Regular use of computers and office productivity machines (e.g., fax, copier, printer).
- Occasionally required to move documents or files weighing up to 15 lbs.
- Consistent communication and information exchange with attorneys, clients, and staff.
- Ability to inspect and observe information on a computer screen at least 85% of the time.
