Ready-Mix Truck Driver - Hampton Roads

About the role

The Major Role and Purpose of this position is to drive trucks equipped with concrete mixers to transport and dump concrete. The job requires a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
• Pull or push levers to turn mixer drum and dump contents.
• Move hand and foot controls to move truck forward and backward to aid in the placement of concrete.
• Inspect truck equipment and supplies in accordance with CDL pre-trip guidelines.
• Use hand tools when necessary.
• Oil, lubricate, and/or perform general maintenance of equipment may be required.
• Knowledge of DOT standards and requirements and adhere to same.
• Maintain daily log.
• Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid CDL, Class A or B license with air brake endorsement.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience driving commercial vehicles preferred.
• Vision must be acceptable for day and night driving.
• Must possess a Real ID for the purposes of accessing military bases. If you do not have a Real ID, you must be able to obtain one within 30 days from date of hire.
• Ability to do basic math.

Education

A High School Diploma or GED is required.

Physical Demands

• Job requires the following motions: climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, vibrating, and reaching.
• Must be able to climb up and down a ladder.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather.
• Overtime work is required.
• Physical strength must be enough to climb in and out of truck throughout the workday, carry chutes, and carry out tasks that may be assigned to you.
