Ready Mix Performance Improvement Manager- West Division
Reporting to the VP of Division Performance, the Ready Mix Performance Improvement Manager provides leadership for operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives across aggregate operations spanning multiple states in the western United States. The role champions lean and problem-solving methodologies to drive operational excellence, cost leadership, margin improvement tactics (including commercial), local adoption and sustainability. In addition, the Ready Mix Performance Improvement Manager will be engaged in capability-building activities such as needs assessments, training, and/or coaching individuals or teams in areas of competency or skills relating to operational and commercial excellence. The role may include leading a small team when engaging the business.
Compensation: $120,000–$140,000, 15% bonus
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain trust, operate with integrity, and serve as a role model for safe operation and a strong safety culture across Division and Americas Materials ("AMAT") operations.
- Lead end-to-end performance assessments at assigned sites, including pre-visit diagnosis, on-site assessment, post-visit analysis, and support in prioritization and implementation planning.
- Analyze and improve plant production efficiencies while maintaining product specification and quality; assess work production and equipment performance to identify improvement opportunities.
- Optimize plant operations to meet sales demand in the most cost-effective manner, maximizing margin while maintaining safety and quality.
- Align production planning with demand forecast, mine plan, and commercial strategy to maximize margin; support plant-level production scheduling aligned with demand forecast and margin targets.
- Collaborate with leadership and the commercial team to develop and sell the best-fit OpEx and value-added strategy to meet customer demand.
- Lead change management initiatives by challenging the status quo and gaining commitment from senior leaders through frontline employees.
- Deliver effective training, mentoring, and coaching — both formal and informal — to enhance the skills of site leaders and frontline employees in applying the AMAT Performance Fundamentals and Tools.
- Support development of comprehensive operational budgets, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead estimates.
Qualifications
- 5+ years operational experience in ready mix, leading teams, and delivering progressive results.
- Experience and proficiency in ready mix-specific performance tools (e.g., AggFlow, PEAK, PRISM, B2W, DF3, etc.).
- Proven ability to develop relationships and work with teams as both a leader and a participant.
- Hands-on technical experience with plant systems, quality control, and field application of automation and data collection.
- Experience with site assessments, including reviewing and approving tactical implementation plans.
- Training, coaching, and mentoring with leadership and frontline employees.

Additional Requirements
Travel 50% +/- within the western United States.
Physical Requirements
- Able to communicate with others by telephone and in person.
- Able to utilize a computer for word processing, e-mail communication, and preparation of documents and presentations.
- May require sitting for extended periods of time.
- May require periodically lifting objects up to 30 lbs.
- Elements of the role will be field based and will require plant/field visits and assessments.
