Duties And Responsibilities
- Assesses reading levels and collaborates with classroom teachers.
- Facilitates and conducts student screenings using appropriate assessment tools.
- Analyzes data from assessments to identify areas for improvement and monitor progress.
- Facilitates and manages district and state reading assessments and programs.
- Develops and implements reading intervention lessons using research-based strategies.
- Maintains records of individual student progress and collaborates with teachers.
- Instructs and advises teachers on differentiating reading instruction.
- Collaborates within a professional learning community to enhance instructional practices.
- Implements appropriate intervention programs for struggling readers.
- Attends professional development and maintains current knowledge in reading skills and remediation.
Job Requirements
- Possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with a Reading Specialist endorsement.
- Master's degree in Reading preferred.
- Knowledge of instructional best practices and differentiated instruction.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
