Reading Specialist
Position
Reading Specialist needed for Elementary Position beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.
About the Role
The preferred candidate will possess a K-12 Reading License. Candidates should have familiarity with the following reading programs: Fundations, Orton Gillingham, Read Naturally, Wilson, as well as other reading programs. Candidates should also have experience supporting students in need of reading support at the elementary school level.
Responsibilities
- Working with students in need of reading intervention services in grades K-5 in a push in and/or pull out setting; either 1:1 or in small groups.
- Serving as a resource to classroom teachers and special educators.
Requirements
- K-12 Reading License
- Familiarity with reading programs such as Fundations, Orton Gillingham, Read Naturally, Wilson, and other reading programs.
- Experience supporting students in need of reading support at the elementary school level.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge of best practices in reading instruction and assessment.

Salary and Benefits are consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association. The Salary Schedule is on our website. Salary placement is based on Education and Experience.
Application Instructions
Arlington has a well-established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year. The first official work day in the 2026-2027 school year will be August 31, 2026. However, new staff are required to attend several days of orientation and training during the last two weeks of August.
