About the role
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $50 USD/hour, which equates to $100,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
Responsibilities
- Create and facilitate small-group K-2 reading workshops anchored in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or equivalent), informed by live student performance data
- Facilitate daily motivation sessions designed to ensure 100% of students meet weekly adaptive-app goals through Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate gamification)
- Conduct and evaluate running records, fluency assessments, and decoding probes to monitor progress and refine instruction for subsequent sessions
- Analyze AI-generated performance insights from Alpha's adaptive learning platforms to differentiate instruction dynamically, not solely during advance planning
- Serve as the energetic, approachable adult your K-2 students are excited to see daily
Requirements
- Certification in structured literacy (Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent) OR Master's degree in reading instruction
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline, plus 2+ years of full-time K-2 structured reading instruction in a school or clinical environment, utilizing systematic phonics or structured literacy
- Proven capacity to design independent reading lessons and clearly explain your instructional methods and content, without dependence on a published program
- Ability to work on-site full-time at an Alpha campus: Phoenix, AZ; Oklahoma City or Tulsa, OK; Fort Worth (Keller), Dallas, Plano, or The Woodlands, TX; or Park City (Salt Lake City), UT (relocation assistance available)
- Willingness to teach all K-2 students (not exclusively struggling readers) and to incorporate AI and adaptive-learning platforms into everyday instruction
Qualifications
- Basic requirements include certification in structured literacy or a Master's degree in reading instruction
- Additional qualifications may include practical experience using AI-powered or adaptive reading tools, documented reading outcomes, experience in non-traditional educational settings, and experience in performance or youth sports coaching
