About the role

Under the close supervision of the Communication Specialist, Gaza and the technical guidance of the Chief of Communication in East Jerusalem, you will perform a variety of information gathering, monitoring, technical and administrative services, in support of Communications, Advocacy and Partnerships activities, contributing to the smooth running of the Section.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the collection and analysis of information from various sources to inform communication strategies and campaigns.
  • Assists in organizing and generating public support for special events and activities.
  • Aids in the preparation of communication materials for media briefings and visits of media, goodwill ambassadors, donors, National Committee representatives, and other special interest groups.
  • Assists in the planning, logistical, and administrative arrangements for special events and activities.
  • Supports the management of communication, advocacy, and partnership assets produced by contractors/LTAs, ensuring quality control and adherence to UNICEF standards.
  • Maintains an up-to-date documentation center for publications, press releases, and clippings, as well as photographic and audio-visual materials (photo library).
  • Monitors the appropriate and timely dissemination of advocacy, partnerships, and communications materials to target audiences.
  • Manages programme results by planning and issuing payments, following up on cash advances, liquidations, and budgets.
  • Supports the monitoring of communication strategy implementation by summarizing information reflecting current obligations and future programme and/or budgetary implications.
  • Performs administrative and clerical support tasks, including scrutinizing plans of operations, exchanging letters, and taking appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Assists in the administrative process of requests for assistance.

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the field of work.
  • A minimum of six years of relevant administrative or clerical work experience is required. A bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position may replace three years of related work experience.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
  • Knowledge of graphic design, experience with photo and video editing, experience working with donors and ambassadors, and relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts are desirable.
