About the role
Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) is a limited liability company consisting of Honeywell International Inc., Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., and HII Nuclear Inc. We manage and operate the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).
Responsibilities
- Perform radiological surveys and monitor radiological conditions and work practices.
- Prior to use, verify that radiological instrumentation is functioning properly.
- Select and post various radiological signs to ensure proper identification of radiological work sites.
- Review radiological work permits, work packages, and procedures to ensure compliance with approved work control documents.
- Participate in briefings and advise on radiological conditions and requirements.
- Compile and analyze measurement data and assist in field operations, data collection, and report generation of radiation detection.
- Assist in accident or occurrence investigations and support emergency response teams.
- Ensure generation of records for radiation surveys and other job activities using appropriate forms and logbooks.
- Implement stop work authority when necessary due to radiological or safety conditions.
- May coordinate work with other technical personnel as directed.
- Maintain current training and qualifications and attend training as necessary.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in a field related to the position or 5 years’ progressive related experience.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook.
- Fitted for and qualified to use various respiratory protection and personal protective equipment.
- Able to participate in National Response Asset Deployment activities.
- Able to qualify within 6 months of start date to DOE Radiological Control Technician (RCT) standardized core training programs.
- Self-motivated and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of radiation protection principles.
- Current work location at the Nevada National Security Site (65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
- Work schedule is 4/10s Monday through Thursday, with the possibility of overtime.
- May be required to perform on-call work and work non-standard hours.
- Pre-placement physical examination, including a drug screen, is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a DOE security clearance.

Pay
Hourly salary range for this position is: $29.33 - $44.00. Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate's education and experience, and internal equity.
Schedule
The work schedule is 4/10s Monday through Thursday, with the possibility of overtime. Overtime may be required. The position may also require on-call work and non-standard hours.
