Rates eTrading Engineer (Vice President)
About the role
This is a Lead Software Engineering position at the Vice President level within the Technology division of Morgan Stanley. The Technology division leverages innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power the Firm, enabling clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of communities.
Responsibilities
- Gain expertise in several components of the Fixed Income electronic trading platform
- Take full ownership of assignments from requirements gathering to rollout
- Add business logic, develop new services, maintain existing systems, perform bug fixes, automate QA processes, and develop frameworks
- Communicate directly with clients such as traders, sales representatives, operations, and other technology partners
- Work collaboratively as an individual contributor within a team setting
Requirements
- Relevant Java development experience
- Strong knowledge of core/server-side Java
- Experience in object-oriented programming and working with both new and legacy systems
- Fixed Income domain knowledge, including experience with Rates (US Treasuries or Swaps)
- Willingness to communicate directly with clients
- Problem-solving, result-focused attitude, and strong focus on keeping the business competitive
- Ability to work in a team as an individual contributor
Qualifications
- 6+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
Skills
- Previous eTrading experience with B2C Exchanges (e.g., Tradeweb/Bloomberg) or B2B Venues (e.g., Brokertec/eSpeed/Fenics)
- Previous algorithmic development experience
- Previous low latency development experience
- Open to learning and working with other technologies (e.g., Python) as business objectives require

Pay
The expected base pay range for this role is between $155,000 and $215,000 per year at the commencement of employment. Base pay, however, is determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, and other Morgan Stanley-sponsored benefit programs.
