About the company

Our client, a well-established electric utility company, is seeking an experienced Rates & Regulatory Manager to lead regulatory strategy, rate case development, and compliance initiatives. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the company's financial and operational objectives by managing interactions with state regulatory agencies, developing cost-of-service studies, preparing rate filings, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has a strong background in electric utility rate design, regulatory affairs, financial analysis, and utility operations, with the ability to collaborate across Finance, Operations, Engineering, Legal, and Executive Leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the regulatory and rates departments, ensuring all operations align with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Conduct intricate costing analyses to determine the financial implications of various regulatory scenarios.
  • Liaise with the Service Commission and other regulatory bodies, representing the company's interests and ensuring compliance.
  • Develop and implement strategies for rate changes, taking into account the company's financial objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and mentor a team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed about changes in industry regulations and rates, and adjust company strategies as needed.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management, providing insights into the performance of the rates and regulatory departments.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a related field.
  • Proven experience with costing analyses, ideally within a regulatory environment.
  • Prior experience working with the Service Commission or a similar regulatory body.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively represent the company's interests to external bodies.
  • A strong understanding of industry regulations and rates, and the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
  • A degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • The ability to adapt to changes in the regulatory landscape and adjust company strategies accordingly.
