About the role
The Field and Research Service Unit (FRSU) is a component of OSU Ag Research that conducts research on agriculture, natural resources, rural economies, and social issues to enhance the lives of Oklahomans. The unit oversees 21 research units across diverse Oklahoma environments and operates the Controlled Environmental Research Lab, Stored Products Research Center, multiple greenhouses, and core lab facilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the care and maintenance of research projects, animals, and facilities at the OSU Research Range, located west of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
- Work closely with station staff and researchers to provide care for animals (primarily cattle).
- Provide technical support to research projects, including common farming activities and specific research support activities.
- Maintain, repair, and operate various research equipment, including general agricultural equipment like tractors, skid loaders, chain saws, hay equipment, and sprayers.
- Implement a preventive maintenance program with an eye for detail.
- Operate small engines, perform carpentry, plumbing, and painting tasks.
- Use computing and computer-based communications technology effectively.
Requirements
- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
- Vocational/Technical training with one year of work related experience or two years of work related experience without technical training.
- Familiarity with livestock management, forages, range management, prescribed fire, natural resource management, pulling livestock trailers, equipment operations, equipment repair, and basic research practices in agricultural or natural resources management.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a cell phone capable of communication.
Qualifications

- Demonstrated competency and effective use of computing and computer-based communications technology.
