About the Role

The Ramp & Customer Service Agent is responsible for above and below wing tasks which include guest interactions and ramp functions in a fast-paced airport environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist guests with travel needs, including answering inquiries, baggage handling, ticketing, checking-in passengers, and boarding flights.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions performing below wing functions such as transporting baggage and cargo, loading and offloading luggage and cargo, aircraft marshaling, pushing back aircraft, and aircraft deicing.
  • Perform aircraft grooming and security searches.
  • Conduct boarding and gate duties, including assisting and directing guests, making announcements, processing standbys, and handling upgrade requests.
  • Process and secure guest luggage; file and maintain luggage claims for damaged, delayed, or pilfered items.
  • Load and offload luggage and cargo using conveyor belts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure complete guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid unexpired driver’s license issued by a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Ability to learn and operate a computerized reservation system.
  • Typing speed of at least 25 WPM.
  • Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, bend, stoop, squat, reach, and grasp.
  • Basic mathematics skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to participate in paid training that may require overnight travel.
  • Depending on work location, ability to obtain USPS Mail Handling Certification.
  • Ability to obtain airport security clearance and communicate in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18 and must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of customer service or community service experience.

Pay

Starting wage: $18.27 per hour (non-negotiable). When working a split shift, employees receive a $2.25 per hour differential, resulting in an effective split-shift hourly rate of $20.52 per hour.

Schedule

  • 15 to 30 hours per week.
  • Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Additional Requirements

Employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar must obtain and maintain a SIDA badge provided by the airport authority. Failure to qualify for or maintain a SIDA badge will result in termination.
